Man Charged With Endangering Baby's Life - Dangling Him Out Of Highrise Window For Facebook

Do you remember the stir it caused when pop star Michael Jackson visited Germany and held his youngest son, Prince Michael II, over the railing with a blanket on his head? The event raised quite a stir, launched a child welfare investigation on Jackson and angered a lot of people. Jackson apologized for the crazy stunt profusely, which haunted him for years. Jackson always said he just got caught up in the excitement of the moment.

You would think people would learn by example, but it seems that it's just not the case. Sadly, the idea of holding a baby out of a window or dangling a child from high places has become something funny to do, and you'll occasionally see stories of it still happening. One judge in Algeria, at least, is saying that we've had enough of that.

A man in Algeria, whose name is being withheld for now, made a huge mistake when he decided to joke about dropping a baby from a high-rise building. The man, who is related to the baby but is not his parent, held the tot out of a window 15 stories up.

The poor baby looks down at the hard pavement below, where people and cars pass by. The man holds the baby up by the back of his blue T-shirt, grabbing it in a bunch. The man snapped a photo of his hand holding the baby out over the streets.

The man then went on the internet and posted the picture to Facebook. He actually thought it was funny. "1,000 likes or I will drop him," the man wrote on the Facebook post.

Likes came pouring in from concerned people, but they were also furious. Social media users began alerting police, who investigated the post and determined the exact location where it was made. Police rushed in, collected the baby and the man was arrested.

The man argues that it was just a joke; he even says that the baby was not in real danger. He claims there was a balcony below the baby outside the window. He says he edited the photo to remove the rails.

"The picture was taken in a balcony with protective barriers. These were removed," the man said to local news outlets.

The child's father is backing the man up, saying it was a joke and never meant to hurt the baby. The two men argue that the baby was never in any danger.

A judge disagrees. She didn't think the man was that good at photoshopping and ruled that the baby was placed in danger during the ridiculous stunt.

The man was convicted of endangering the baby's safety and has been sentenced to two years in jail.

People on social media are applauding the judge's decision. Even if the man thought that the baby would be safe, it was too dangerous a situation to put a baby out the window 15 stories above ground. Hopefully, other people will learn their lesson as well.
