Host On Popular Television Channel Claims She Was Fired For Being A Conservative

A former ESPN host has made headlines after alleging that she was fired because of her conservative values. The sports network came under fire in April after it dismissed 100 staff members. Around the same time, political commentators and viewers began to notice that ESPN was becoming more and more politicized, specializing in left-wing political commentary.

Britt McHenry, the former ESPN reporter, recently tweeted about her experience at ESPN and hinted that she was fired for not supporting the network’s new political stance, writing: “I mean I've been openly Conservative…look how that ended up.” Just as the tweet began to go viral, the 31-year-old deleted it, replacing the original message with two others: “Need to take my opinions & truth to a place & blog that actually gets money for the clicks. I replied to a friend. Take it easy, Twitter…Stay true to what you believe in--positive or negative, it's still a reaction. Want the truth from me, come to my social media. [love] you.”

Ms. McHenry is not afraid to broadcast her conservative beliefs to the world, encouraging her Twitter followers to support the Trump Administration and frequently complimenting Melania Trump. After posting a photo of the First Lady, Ms. McHenry captioned the image: “Girl post (sorry guys), but how regal and stunning does Melania look with the Jackie O throwback?”

However, online commentators are refusing to believe Ms. McHenry’s thinly veiled accusation at her former employees. A commentary piece on the Independent Journal Review was one of the first articles to remind readers that Ms. McHenry had not been fired for her widely publicized attack on a tow truck employee.

During the lengthy verbal assault, Ms. McHenry was caught on camera abusing the female attendant, screaming: "Maybe if I was missing some teeth they would hire me, huh?... Cuz I'm on television and you're in a f**king trailer, honey...Lose some weight, baby girl...”

Despite a massive public backlash, Ms. McHenry only received a weeks’ suspension for the vulgar rant, a punishment that many viewers saw as a slap on the wrist. Accordingly, social media users are finding it difficult to believe that, given they retained Ms. McHenry after the viral parking lot exchange, ESPN would choose to fire Ms. McHenry for her conservative beliefs.

Ms. McHenry’s story really started to build up steam when Sarah Palin, the former Governor of Alaska, tweeted about the story on her own Twitter account. However, As President Trump continues to dominate media coverage, online commentators quickly lost interest in Ms. Palin and Mc. McHenry’s stories.

Ms. Palin is currently embroiled in a defamation lawsuit, accusing the New York Times of falsely reporting her role in “the 2011 shooting of Democratic Rep. Gabby Giffords and others by Jared Loughner.” The controversial conservative also made headlines after she, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent, were received in the White House. The trio were deeply criticized for their disrespectful behavior, after the three outspoken conservatives were photographed smirking and posing in front of a portrait of Hillary Clinton.
