Social Media Trolls Celebrate Father’s Day By Targeting Melania And Ivanka Trump

Nothing says Father’s Day like trolling social media so you can express obnoxious sentiments to others, right? That sounds like a pretty sad way to spend a beautiful Sunday that’s meant to honor dads. Unfortunately, this is one of those sad but true things that we hear about from time to time. First Lady Melania Trump and First Daughter Ivanka Trump expressed some warm Father’s Day wishes on social media, and they were promptly blasted by a number of angry trolls with an abundance of time on their hands.

As AOL shares, Ivanka got the ball rolling with a couple of posts. She posted a nice message to her husband, White House adviser Jared Kushner, and would follow that up later in the day with some sentiments for President Donald Trump. Of course, a whole slew of users would twist her initial post into some kind of slight against her father, but they weren’t done trolling just yet.

"What an amazing year it has been for us all. Happy #FathersDay to these two incredible dads!" Ivanka wrote.

"2 dads being investigated by the FBI. Great indeed," replied one user.

"What do you get a father who's about to be imprisoned?" shared another user.

Internet connections in the parent’s basement can be awfully finicky, but thankfully the above posters were able to figure out a workaround so that the rest of the world could be enlightened with their stimulating thoughts. That being said, it’s pretty unfortunate that each and every one of Ivanka’s social media posts has to be turned into some kind of political referendum. Such is life in the big city, but it doesn’t make it any less unbelievable.

FLOTUS would also share some thoughts on social media, and she would unfortunately receive similar treatment.

"#HappyFathersDay @POTUS," she wrote.

"He is throwing your stepkids under the bus.... How can you wish this man a 'happy' anything," asked one user.

"Nice note, @FLOTUS. Doesn't seem like that one is plagiarized," added another.

Perhaps FLOTUS thought better of things after she had the gall to wish her husband a Happy Father’s Day. You can almost imagine her scanning through all of these mesmerizing reactions when she suddenly has an ‘a-ha’ moment and storms out of the house to collect herself. From that point, she heads back inside for a difficult conversation and to pack some things. She and Barron head back to New York City, and the president is left home alone with his smartphone again. Or not.

As absurd as the above scenario sounds, it seems as if that’s what many users are hoping for when they post such nasty thoughts. There’s plenty of users out there that manage to share amusing thoughts or anecdotes without crossing the line into being nasty, but others feel the need to smash that line into oblivion. There’s no prize for such behavior, outside of that mythical trophy they seem to be chasing in their never-ending quest for likes and shares.
