This Gang Is Expanding In The United States - Obama's Administration Is Being Blamed

A Senate Republican is accusing President Obama’s administration of having let young suspected terrorists enter the country, the Daily Mail reported.

Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, claimed authorities cleared the way for 16 teenagers affiliated with the MS-13 gang to move into juvenile homes in the United States in 2014. The lawmaker cited “internal documents” as the source of his allegation, according to The Washington Times. He said a government whistleblower gave him the information, which the Customs and Border Enforcement agency compiled in 2014. The documents indicate that federal officers caught the teenagers as they were crossing from Mexico into the United States.

“CBP apprehended them, knew they were MS-13 gang members, and they processed and disbursed them into our communities,” Johnson said. The criminal group, formally called Mara Salvatrucha, originated in El Salvador. Government prosecutors warn that the gang includes thousands of people in the United States, most of whom are natives of Central American nations. The MS-13 operation in Los Angeles, since forming in the 1980s, has grown into one of the larger groups.

Johnson and other Republicans say Obama’s immigration policies were to blame. They pointed out that the Democratic administration did not deport undocumented children who came to the United States without their parents. About 165,000 of the unaccompanied minors have received federal assistance in finding American homes since late 2013. Seven of the 13 alleged MS-13 members charged with recent murders in the United States arrived as unaccompanied minors.

The Washington Times reported that the number of young immigrants the government officially calls “unaccompanied alien children” soared during Obama’s tenure in the White House. Administration officials said the children would face extreme hardship, and in some cases death, if forced to return home.

According to Johnson, most minors who arrive without their parents are between 15 and 17 years of age. Government data shows that border-enforcement officers arrested almost 200,000 children who attempted to cross the border between 2012 and 2016. Sixty-eight percent of them were 15 to 17 years old. Johnson said teenagers are particularly vulnerable to gang-recruitment efforts. “The gangs surf the Internet, building dossiers on potential recruits,” a law-enforcement official said. He accused MS-13 members of extorting other immigrants and their businesses, and threatening their victims’ family members.

When some of the Salvadoran gang members were deported in the 1990s, they returned to their homeland and reportedly continued their illegal activities. MS-13 gangs later arose in Honduras. In some cases, the groups have seized control of communities, where they allegedly rape women and either extort or murder others. They also have been accused of killing young people who refuse to join the gang.
